Privacy & Cookie Policy

Last updated: 19 September 2026

This privacy and cookie policy explains how information is handled when you use UK Money Tools at ukmoneytools.app, including our use of Google Analytics, Google AdSense, cookies, consent technologies and website server logs.

1. Who operates UK Money Tools

UK Money Tools is an independent website operated by an individual in the United Kingdom.

For data protection purposes, the website operator is responsible for determining how personal information collected through UK Money Tools is used.

For privacy or data protection enquiries, contact:

privacy@ukmoneytools.app

UK Money Tools does not operate user accounts and does not require you to provide your name, address or other identifying information in order to use its calculators.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the website and the privacy choices you make, information processed in connection with UK Money Tools may include:

  • your IP address;

  • browser and device information;

  • operating system information;

  • screen or device characteristics;

  • pages viewed;

  • referring pages or websites;

  • date and time of visits;

  • approximate geographic information derived from your IP address;

  • interactions with pages and website features;

  • advertising impressions and interactions;

  • consent preferences;

  • information contained in technical requests;

  • security and diagnostic information; and

  • information you voluntarily provide if you contact us.

We do not intentionally collect special-category personal information.

Calculator information

UK Money Tools calculators are designed to perform calculations without requiring you to create an account.

Figures you enter into calculators are not intentionally collected by UK Money Tools as form submissions or stored in a user profile.

You should nevertheless avoid entering information that directly identifies another person unless it is necessary for your own use of a calculator.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

UK Money Tools uses cookies and similar technologies.

Some are required for the website, security or consent system to operate. Others are used for analytics or advertising and are controlled according to your privacy choices.

These technologies may include:

  • browser cookies;

  • local storage;

  • pixels;

  • scripts;

  • advertising identifiers; and

  • server-side requests.

Cookies may be either:

Session cookies, which normally disappear when you close your browser; or

Persistent cookies, which remain for a defined period or until you delete them.

4. Essential technologies

Some storage or processing is necessary for functions such as:

  • remembering your privacy choices;

  • maintaining website security;

  • preventing abuse;

  • delivering website content; and

  • ensuring the consent system works correctly.

Where these technologies are strictly necessary to provide the website or a service you request, they may be used without consent where permitted by law.

Consent preference records are normally retained for up to 13 months, after which we may ask you to make your privacy choices again.

We may ask you sooner if our privacy practices or consent purposes materially change.

5. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand how visitors use UK Money Tools and to help us improve the website.

Where analytics consent is granted, Google Analytics may process information including:

  • pages viewed;

  • events and interactions;

  • session information;

  • browser and device information;

  • approximate location;

  • referring websites;

  • timestamps; and

  • technical information associated with the request.

Google Analytics may use cookies including:

_ga

Used to distinguish visitors.

Typical maximum duration: 2 years.

_ga_<property-id>

Used to maintain information about website sessions.

Typical maximum duration: 2 years.

Actual cookie lifetime may be shorter because of browser restrictions, user settings or changes to our configuration.

Analytics data retention

Our Google Analytics event-level and user-level data retention period is set to:

14 months

Google Analytics may continue to make aggregated statistical reports available after underlying event-level information is no longer available through its normal user-level reporting tools.

Our lawful basis for analytics processing that requires consent is consent.

6. Google Advanced Consent Mode

UK Money Tools uses Google Advanced Consent Mode.

This means Google tags may load when you visit the website even before you grant analytics or advertising consent.

The default consent state for non-essential storage is denied until your preferences indicate otherwise.

When relevant consent is denied, Google Analytics and advertising tags are restricted from reading or writing the associated analytics or advertising cookies.

However, this does not mean that no information reaches Google.

When storage is denied, Google tags may send measurements without cookies or similar cookieless requests to Google.

These requests can communicate information including:

  • whether consent has been granted or denied;

  • timestamps;

  • browser or user-agent information;

  • referring-page information;

  • information about the page being viewed;

  • random request identifiers;

  • whether advertising click information was present; and

  • limited measurement information.

Google may use this information for aggregated measurement and modelling.

If you later grant consent, Google services may use the additional cookies, identifiers and measurement functionality associated with the purposes you accepted.

7. Google AdSense and advertising

UK Money Tools uses Google AdSense to display advertising and help fund the website.

Google and participating advertising technology providers may process information for purposes including:

  • selecting and displaying advertisements;

  • measuring advertising performance;

  • measuring ad impressions and interactions;

  • preventing fraud and invalid traffic;

  • limiting how frequently advertisements appear;

  • producing advertising reports; and

  • where you consent, personalising advertisements.

Advertising technologies may process information including:

  • IP address;

  • device and browser information;

  • approximate location;

  • pages visited;

  • advertising interactions;

  • cookie or device identifiers where permitted; and

  • consent preferences.

Google advertising cookies and identifiers vary depending on your browser, Google services, consent choices and the advertising providers involved.

Certain Google advertising cookies used in the UK may remain for up to approximately 13 months.

Other shorter-lived cookies may also be used.

The current advertising technology providers and purposes applicable to you are available through the website’s Privacy & cookie settings interface.

8. Personalised and non-personalised advertising

If you consent to personalised advertising, Google and participating providers may use information about your activity and interests to personalise advertisements.

If you do not consent to personalised advertising, you may still see:

  • non-personalised advertising;

  • contextual advertising; or

  • limited advertising.

These advertisements may be selected using information such as:

  • the content of the page;

  • your general geographic area;

  • basic device information; and

  • information needed to prevent fraud and abuse.

Refusing personalised advertising does not necessarily prevent all communication with Google’s advertising systems.

9. Managing your privacy choices

When required, UK Money Tools asks for consent before enabling non-essential analytics or advertising storage.

You can choose to:

  • accept available purposes;

  • reject non-essential purposes; or

  • customise your choices.

You can change or withdraw your choices at any time using the Privacy & cookie settings link available on UK Money Tools.

Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that lawfully took place before consent was withdrawn.

You can also delete cookies using your browser settings.

10. Consent records

Our consent management system may keep information necessary to:

  • remember your choices;

  • communicate those choices to advertising and analytics providers; and

  • demonstrate that valid consent was requested or obtained.

This may include an IAB Transparency and Consent Framework consent string or similar consent record.

Consent records are retained for up to:

13 months

After that period, or sooner where appropriate, we may request your preferences again.

11. Website and server logs

Our website infrastructure automatically processes technical information when your browser requests a page or other resource.

This may include:

  • IP address;

  • requested URL;

  • date and time;

  • browser or user-agent information;

  • HTTP response status;

  • referrer information;

  • request headers; and

  • diagnostic information.

Ordinary web-server access logs are retained for:

30 days

They are used for:

  • operating the website;

  • diagnosing technical problems;

  • monitoring reliability; and

  • investigating unusual traffic.

Our lawful basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in operating and maintaining a reliable website.

12. Security and abuse information

Where activity is suspected of being malicious, fraudulent or harmful, relevant technical information may be retained separately for up to:

90 days

This may include information relating to:

  • attempted attacks;

  • suspicious requests;

  • automated abuse;

  • scraping;

  • denial-of-service activity;

  • fraud;

  • unauthorised access attempts; and

  • other security incidents.

Information may be retained for longer where reasonably necessary to investigate a specific incident, comply with a legal obligation or establish or defend legal claims.

Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in protecting UK Money Tools, its infrastructure and its visitors.

13. Information you send to us

If you contact UK Money Tools, we may process:

  • your email address;

  • your name, if you provide it;

  • the contents of your message;

  • attachments you provide; and

  • related correspondence.

We use this information to respond to your enquiry and manage any follow-up.

Routine correspondence is normally deleted within:

24 months after our last meaningful interaction with you

Information may be retained for longer where necessary in connection with a legal dispute, regulatory requirement, fraud investigation or other legal obligation.

Our lawful basis will normally be our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and maintaining appropriate records.

Where your enquiry relates to a contract or legal obligation, a different lawful basis may apply.

15. International data transfers

Some providers used by UK Money Tools operate internationally.

Where applicable, Google states that international transfers are protected using recognised legal mechanisms including:

  • UK adequacy regulations;

  • the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; and

  • contractual safeguards where required.

Where another provider transfers personal information outside the UK, appropriate safeguards such as applicable adequacy regulations or contractual protections are used where required by law.

You can contact us at privacy@ukmoneytools.app if you would like further information about the safeguards applicable to a particular transfer.

16. Retention summary

Security and abuse logs 90 days
Routine email correspondence 24 months after last meaningful contact

We periodically review information we retain and delete or anonymise information that is no longer reasonably required.

17. Lawful bases for processing

Depending on the activity, UK Money Tools relies on the following lawful bases under UK data protection law.

19. Your right to object

You have the right to object to processing of your personal information that is based on legitimate interests.

If you object, we will stop the relevant processing unless there are compelling legitimate grounds to continue or processing is required for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

20. Withdrawing consent

You may withdraw consent at any time.

The easiest way to do this is by selecting Privacy & cookie settings on UK Money Tools and changing your preferences.

You may also contact:

privacy@ukmoneytools.app

Withdrawing consent does not make processing that occurred before withdrawal unlawful.

21. Complaints

If you have concerns about how UK Money Tools handles personal information, please contact us first:

privacy@ukmoneytools.app

You also have the right to complain to the UK’s data protection regulator:

Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)

You can find current complaint and contact information on the ICO website.

22. Automated decision-making

UK Money Tools does not use personal information to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on visitors.

Calculator results are automated mathematical outputs based on information you enter. They are provided for information only and are not decisions made about you by UK Money Tools.

23. Children’s privacy

UK Money Tools is intended for adults managing personal or household finances.

We do not knowingly ask children to provide personal information or create accounts.

Some calculators may relate to childcare or benefits involving children, but the website does not require identifying information about a child in order to perform those calculations.
